About Impact Local
Impact Local is changing how people discover and support local charities. The easy-to-use mobile platform helps users discover, research, donate and share local nonprofits that are making our communities stronger.

The Idea
The idea for Impact Local came from an encounter while walking down the street in New York City. Our founder came across a person in need and wanted to help out, but didn't have his wallet and therefore couldn't run into the store and grab the person some food. Then it hit him... why isn't there a way for people to pull out their phones and donate $5 to a local food bank just like you can order a pizza or call an Uber.

The Early Days
Impact Local was founded by Ryan Davidson in April 2021 while he was getting his MBA at the Wharton School. Ryan leveraged the resources of Wharton to further develop the idea, gauge demand and gain valuable feedback. Impact Local was a 2022 Finalist in the Penn Venture Lab Startup Challenge. Work on the software engineering started in June 2022 when Sam Scott, former head of Engineering at Trusted Health, joined to lead the software development.

 
Impact Local began signing up launch nonprofits in the NYC area in October 2022.
